Valley View Community Council Meeting

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024 at 3:pm in our school library

Came to order at 3:pm. Checked the virtual Google Meet link but no one was there. Passed out current LAND trust plan & reviewed Principal Assurance and Council Membership form requirements that were due Oct. 20th. Angie presented on the student Acadience data from last school year and our beginning of this year. Brett brought up the fact that a lot of parents don't know what BOY, MOY, & EOY means on the school's data bulletin boards. That was good feedback because we want parents and students to understand what they are looking at while viewing the data boards. Goals were discussed. It was mentioned that we surpassed our goals as a school with 70% typical & above growth in ELA & 81% typical & above growth in math. We decided we would wait until January or February to look at middle of year data to set our LAND Trust goals for our upcoming plan for next year. We talked about having more volunteers this school year, and being able to support the upper grades better. That our aides and volunteers and pulling individual students and working one on one with them each day on math & reading fluency skills. 

We viewed the Valley View website & went over the notice of meetings & rules of order.

We mentioned the school is planning a parent engagement math night on November 21st. We discussed having math games available to send home with families who come to help encourage practice of math fluency at home.
